A New Zealand businessman and triathlete has been killed in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
He was Warwick John White, a 48-year-old father of two.
In a statement released through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr White's family says he had just competed in a triathlon in Hungary.
Media reports there say he died in an ambulance early on Sunday (local time) after being stabbed.
Mr White, who spent most of the past eight years living in South America and Europe, was previously a teacher in Wellington and Wairarapa.
His family say he travelled extensively setting up language schools and adventure programmes and had won international awards for his work.
Mr White's sister is travelling to Hungary to retrieve his body and his family say they are awaiting the results of an inquiry by police in Budapest.
