Young Sid again triumphed at the Waiata Maori music awards, but he was too far away to pick up his awards.

He won the Best Maori male solo artist and the Best Maori urban rap hip-hop and RB album.

The South Auckland rapper is in New York recording tracks for his next album, which will be released here next year, and which he hopes will be released in the United States later this year.

Waatea News reports the big winner this year was Maisey Rika, who won the best Maori female solo artist title for the second consecutive year as well as best songwriter, best Maori pop album and best Maori song, for her waiata, Nia.
