Flood-hit farmers told to brace for more rain

Farmers in the lower North Island who are still recovering from flooding earlier this week are being told to brace themselves for more heavy rain.

On Thursday evening MetService issued a severe weather warning for the coastal hills of Wairarapa and the Tararua Ranges, forecasting up to 100 millimetres of rain overnight.

On Monday more than 300mm of rain forced the evacuation of some Pahiatua families. It also closed more than a dozen roads and flooded farmland.
