A farmer has died on his property near Tuai, west of Wairoa, after being crushed by a cattle beast.
Police say the 57-year-old was helping to load cattle onto a stock truck on Monday when the accident occurred.
The truck driver went to his aid and called an ambulance, but paramedics were unable to revive him.
The Department of Labour is investigating.
