A man believed to be involved in the child sex tourism industry has been arrested in Auckland.

A motel and property manager, aged 46, was arrested following raids of addresses in Remuera and Mangere on Friday morning.

He faces charges of organising and promoting child sex tours to southeast Asia and dealing in children for sexual exploitation.

The arrest was made shortly before he was due to leave for Thailand.

Police say this is the first time a charge of organising a child sex tour has been laid against someone in New Zealand.
