A play about the Maori showband era has revealed an audience in Auckland for Maori theatre.
Producer Tainui Tukiwaho worked on Raising the Titanics for three years with playwright Albert Belz.
Last week's premiere season at the Tapac Theatre in Western Springs was sold out.
Mr Tukiwaho told Waatea News that theatre in Auckland is "exploding" as far as Maori is concerned.
Raising the Titanics has a short season this week at a festival of Maori playwrights in Papakura.
