8:14 pm on 27 June 2010

Police in Hamilton are treating the discovery of a man's body in the central city as a sudden death.

The man, aged in his late 50's to 60's was found lying on his back with head injuries, near public toilets in London street at 6am on Sunday.

He was found by a road sweeper.

Detective Inspector Lance Burdett says they have not been able to identify him yet.

He says police hope members of the public can help identify the man and they would also like to hear from anyone who saw any altercation with him on Saturday night.

Mr Burdett says the man was wearing tan pants, a blue jacket and tan slippers.

A post mortem will be carried out in Auckland either on Monday or Tuesday.
