Wellington City Council has adopted a liquor ban for two more suburbs, narrowly rejecting an option to cover the whole city.
A 24/7 ban already covers the central city, Oriental Bay, Mount Victoria Lookout, Aro Valley and Central Park. It will now extend to Mount Cook and Newtown.
Reports of disorder and trouble, particularly in Newtown, prompted the council to review its liquor bylaw and consider a city-wide ban.
