Police in Hamilton are appealing for witnesses to an attack on a man at about 12.45am on Friday.
Two men were disturbed while attempting to steal a bike at a house in Albert street in Hamilton East.
A struggle took place and the man was stabbed in the neck. He was also wounded on the hand and temple, and had cuts on his torso.
The man was also bitten on the left ear. However, it remained attached.
Police say the struggle would have been very noisy and they would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything in the Albert Street area.
