A government allocation of $4 million to build a proposed cycleway in Southland is said to be not enough.
Only 107km of a national cycleway has been built since July, when plans to construct it were announced by the Government. The seven initial trails are to total about 850km in length.
Southland project manager Rex Capil says $4 million will fund only four-tenths of construction of a cycleway around the mountain.
