Deisel spill on SH3

3:15 pm on 26 May 2010

Motorists are advised to take extra care because of a diesel spill on the Mount Messenger part of State Highway 3 northeast of New Plymouth.

Contractors are working to clean up the spill which goes for about 4km.

Transit New Zealand estimates the spill will be gone by 4pm as rain is also helping to disperse it.

It says contractors are unsure what caused the spill, but it's more apparent on left hand corners, leading them to think it was a vehicle with no petrol cap.
