A woman in her 20s was airlifted to Greymouth Hospital on Wednesday after falling on the Franz Josef Glacier.
Emergency services were alerted just before 1pm.
The police say the woman was reported to have fallen between 10 and 20 metres on the ice. She suffered moderate injuries.
