A paraglider, who crash landed near Godley Heads on Banks Peninsula is in a stable condition in hospital with serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the incident just before midday on Sunday.
A man in his 30s was airlifted to Christchurch hospital.
Police in Lyttleton are investigating the cause of the accident.
