Delay wanted over acquisition of school

A primary school in Auckland says it's not had enough say in a proposal to relocate it to another site.

Auckland City Council is deciding whether to acquire the land currently housing the Monte Cecilia primary school in Hillsborough, to provide more space at the adjacent Pah Homestead.

A council committee will meet on Wednesday to vote on acquiring the land from the Catholic diocese which owns it.

The council has offered to relocate the school to the site of the parish church, a move that school representatives are strongly opposed to.

The school's board of trustees says council officers have pushed through the process, but the council says it has been consulting with the diocese for months.
