TB scare for former pupils of Gisborne school

6:59 am on 28 January 2010

About 60 former pupils of a school in Gisborne are being offered testing for tuberculosis after another ex-student developed the disease.

Nine other people who have worked with the 17-year-old former Lytton High School student are also being offered testing.

Gisborne's medical officer of health, Doctor Bruce Duncan, says public health nurses are getting in touch with people identified as having had close contact with the former student.

He says the Lytton High will not need to take any precautions and it will be business as usual when the new school year starts.
