A pregnant woman and her daughter were in hospital on Wednesday after escaping from their burning home in Porirua.
The Fire Service says the house in Sievers Grove, in the suburb of Cannons Creek, was burning strongly when crews arrived just before 3am.
Police say the woman and her five-year old child had moderate burns mainly to their feet. They were being treated at Hutt Hospital.
