The Royal New Zealand Show may not be held in Christchurch this year after a dispute over the show's logo.
The Canterbury A&P Association has hosted the show over the past three years and had an agreement with the Royal Agricultural Society to continue hosting the event until 2012.
However, Royal Agricultural Society president Bruce Orr says he received a letter from the Canterbury A&P Association before Christmas withdrawing from that agreement.
Mr Orr says the letter came after the groups disagreed about which of them owns the Royal Show logo.
Bruce Orr says he was disappointed and surprised to receive the letter, as he did not believe the logo issue was insurmountable.
He hopes the Canterbury A&P Association will reconsider and host the event again in November.
