Police in Nelson are warning sponsors of a motorcycle charity event not to support the event because it is a cover for gang-related activity.
Inspector Brian McGurk says a feeder gang for the Hells Angels, the Red Devils, is using the event to establish itself locally.
Inspector McGurk says he has written to sponsors about the event and at least one sponsor says it will withdraw its support.
