Pacific Blue inaugurates new Queenstown service

7:59 am on 5 September 2009

Queenstown is getting ready to welcome the first Pacific Blue flight into the resort on Saturday afternoon.

It's the first time a low cost carrier has flown the Tasman route into Queenstown.

Destination Queenstown says competitive flights are exactly what tourists are asking for in the current economic climate.

Queenstown airport is embarking on a $600,000 expansion to accommodate the new airline, only a year after a new terminal was completed at a cost of $31 million.
