Police in Gisborne have charged a 34-year-old man after an armed offenders squad callout.
Acting Senior Sergeant Dave Walker says police received a phone call from a woman on Monday morning to say her partner was threatening to harm her and himself.
Mr Walker says the armed offenders squad was sent as a precautionary measure to the house where the man lives.
Officers were able to talk him into coming outside without incident.
Mr Walker says a search of the house did not turn up weapons of any kind. The 34-year-old has been charged with assaulting a female and threatening language.
