A small earthquake was felt in the Taupo region at 6.30 on Saturday night.
The latest in a swarm of quakes to hit the region in recent weeks, this one occurred at a depth of 4km and rated 2.8 on the Richter scale. It was felt within five kilometres of Turangi.
Earlier on Saturday, at 10.17am, a tremor measuring 3.0 occurred
within 5km of Turangi at a depth of 6km.
