Former tutor's trial adjourned after juror becomes ill

A murder trial in Christchurch has been adjourned after a juror was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Otago University tutor Clayton Weatherston, 33, is accused of murdering his former girlfriend, student Sophie Elliott, 22 in Dunedin.

He denies murdering Miss Elliott, but has admitted her manslaughter.

The trial is in its sixth day in the High Court.

The male juror was taken to hospital during the morning adjournment on Thursday, after he became unwell.

The trial may resume on Friday, depending on his condition.
