A 14-year-old boy has been charged with murder after a man died of stab wounds in the Bay of Islands.

Police found an injured 22-year-old man when they were called to an incident outside a tavern in Opua around 11pm last night. He died on the way to hospital.
A scene examination is still being completed and officers will be speaking to business owners and residents in the area in the coming days.
The teenager is expected to appear in the Whangārei Youth Court this afternoon.
