Wellington City Council is staying quiet about the details of an out-of-court deal it has reached over a contentious indoor sports centre.
The 12-court Indoor Community Sport Centre planned for the suburb of Kilbirnie comes with a price tag of $49.5 million.
In April, councillor Andy Foster dropped his Environment Court action after an independent review found his preferred site in central Wellington was unsuitable.
Another objector, Mike Mellor, filed separate court papers against the project owing to safety concerns for nearby pedestrians and cyclists.
Mr Mellor has also dropped court action - but neither Mr Mellor nor the council will say why, until the court confirms changes to the project's resource consent conditions.
Wellington Mayor Kerry Prendergast says she is delighted the court action will soon be behind the council so construction can begin.
