The Fire Service says a woman had a lucky escape from a suspicious blaze which badly damaged a three-storey house in Nelson on Thursday night.
Senior station officer Steve Shackleton say the fire is thought to have started in a downstairs flat below the bedroom of the woman who owns the house.
He says the property in Konini Street was well alight when the fire brigade arrived about midnight and the owner was awoken by the noise.
