A woman who found herself stranded in a ravine in the Marlborough region has been rescued.
The woman, in her 20s, raised the alarm about 3.30pm on Tuesday after she became stuck in the ravine at White Bluffs near Blenheim.
Rescue workers say she had gone for a walk but later found she could not move up or down safely. She was not injured.
The woman hung onto a tree branch to keep herself from falling while using her cellphone to call police and help guide a rescue helicopter to her location.
A paramedic was winched down to secure the woman with a harness before they were lifted to safety.
