Tokoroa police will be taking no action against a shop owner who wrestled with an armed robber in a struggle that ended with shots being fired.
A masked man walked into the Chinese takeaway on Monday night and demanded money.
The man and the takeaway owner fought, a number of gunshots were fired, the man was wounded and then fled on foot.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested and charged over the incident and a second man has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.
Detective Senior Sergeant Todd Pearce says the police were unable to categorically rule out action against the shop owner until all information had been gathered and examined.
