Commuter services are expected to return to normal on Tuesday night after a suspicious package was detonated on a South Auckland railway line.
Police were told of the package on a train in Takanini shortly before 4pm.
The train was evacuated and the Southern and Eastern lines between Otahuhu and Pukekohe closed.
Police say the package was detonated by the bomb squad and after a stand-down period, it is now not thought the package was a bomb.
