Catering workers at the Ohakea Air Force base near Palmerston North are planning further strike action as they continue their demands for better wages.
The staff, who are members of the Service and Food Workers Union, stopped work for 24 hours on Monday and plan to do so again on Wednesday.
The Service and Food Workers Union says the action follows a breakdown in negotiations between the workers and their employer, Compass Group.
The union says Compass Group has offered $13 an hour but only to staff who have not had a pay increase in the past 12 months.
Union organiser Sam Jones says the offer compares miserably with the $14.62 an hour paid to hospital catering staff.
Mr Jones says the union has done everything it can to resolve negotiations amicably, but Compass Group has done everything in its power to undermine negotiation talks.
The company has not yet been available for comment.
