State Highway 1 at Oamaru remains closed on Saturday morning after a car hit a pedestrian about 2am.
A woman has been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition.
Police say the highway, also known as Thames Highway, is closed at the Lynn Street intersection.
