A man has appeared in court charged with manslaughter following the death of a teenager at Manawatu Gorge.
The man from Palmerston North appeared in court on Wednesday and was granted interim name suppression until Friday afternoon.
He was remanded on bail until next Wednesday.
The charge follows the death of Massey University student Catherine Peters who died after falling more than 20 metres into a riverbed on 7 March.
The 18-year-old was from the university's Alpine Club and was taking part in an introductory course at Ballance Bridge at the end of the gorge.
Police and the Department of Labour are investigating the incident.
