More than 70 firefighters have managed to bring under control a big leak at an Auckland glass factory.
A faulty furnace at ACI Glass in Great South Road, Penrose, caused 40 tonnes of liquified glass to start spilling from the factory's furnace about midday on Wednesday.
Staff at the factory were immediately evacuated, and no one was injured.
Firefighters have been pouring water over the furnace to cool it down and form a crust over the molten glass.
