A 16-year-old is facing a string of charges after two police officers were injured following an armed hold-up at a dairy in South Auckland.
Counties-Manukau East area commander Jim Searle said the officers were attacked as they were chasing the teenager after the incident at a shop in Pakuranga on Monday afternoon.
He said a woman officer sustained scratches to the cornea and bruising to much of her body, while her male colleague suffered a broken hand.
Jim Searle said both are now out of hospital and the gun involved turned out to be an air rifle.
A 16-year-old is facing charges of aggravated wounding, aggravated robbery, and two charges of assault on a police officer.
