A health warning about shellfish in the Bay of Plenty has been partially lifted.
The Waikato District Health Board says shellfish from Kohi Point to the mouth of the Motu River may still be toxic, but the rest of the Bay of Plenty coast is now safe.
Medical officer of health Phil Shoemack says anyone feeling ill after eating shellfish should seek immediate medical attention.
He says symptoms usually occur within 12 hours and may include numbness and tingling, difficulty breathing, dizziness and paralysis.
