A fire at a former rest home in Timaru is being treated as suspicious.
The blaze in the three-storey St Vianneys Home of Compassion in Morgans Road broke out at 10.20pm yesterday.
The building was being demolished to make way for a housing development.
Fire and Emergency said holes in the floors meant firefighters had to put out the flames from outside.
Spokesperson Ian Littlejohn said there was no power to the site, so it was being treated as suspicious and a fire investigator would look into the cause today.
