One person has died in a crash on State Highway 25A in the Coromandel.
St John Ambulance was called to the crash, near Kopu, just after midday.
In a release, police said a truck went off the road and down a bank. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The road between Kopu and Hikuai will be closed for a number of hours.
Police said they are aware a number of people would have seen the crash or the aftermath and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
