One person has died following a crash on the West Coast of the South Island this evening.

The crash happened at Moeraki River Bridge on Haast Highway. Emergency services were called at 6.49pm.
Three people got out of the vehicle safely, while one remained trapped.
The road is closed and motorists are asked to please avoid the area.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
