Police are investigating three stabbings in different parts of the country last night.
In Christchurch, a 52-year-old man has been charged with murdering a 28-year-old woman in the suburb of Ilam.
He is also charged with wounding a 31-year-old man, who is in hospital in a serious condition.
The accused man also stabbed himself and is in a serious condition.
In the Far North, the fatal stabbing of a 57-year-old man in Moerewa is being treated as homicide.
A woman known to the man is helping police with their enquiries.
In Hawke's Bay, the police are investigating after a man arrived at a Napier medical centre with serious stab wounds.
