Emergency services are responding to two serious crashes this afternoon.

Police said several people were seriously injured after a crash on the Tekapo-Twizel Road in the South Island at about 3pm.
State Highway 8 is closed at the Pukaki Dam.
Earlier, one person died after a vehicle crash on the North Island's East Coast.
The crash happened on State Highway 35, south of Tolaga Bay, just before 1pm.
Police said a second person was taken to hospital for injuries not thought to be serious.
The road is down to one lane with a stop-go sign in place.
