Police are investigating after a Wairarapa College student was threatened with a screwdriver this morning.
Senior Sergeant Barry Bysouth said that around 10:15am the student saw a person trying to break into a car near the front of Wairarapa College.
When the would-be thief realised someone was watching, he threatened the student with a screwdriver before running away.
Police were called and the college was told to keep students inside until officers could confirm there was no further risk.
Senior Sergeant Bysouth said the school's response was excellent and commended their quick actions in reporting the incident and taking preventative action.
