A family of four has escaped unharmed after their two-story home went up in flames just after 6am near Nelson.
Fire and Emergency shift manager Riwai Grace said five crews attended the blaze, which is now out.
The house in Nayland Road, Stoke is extensively damaged.
One person was treated for smoke inhalation at the scene.
