Clayton Weatherston's appeal against his conviction for the murder of former girlfiend Sophie Elliott will not be heard until next year.
The appeal was first set down for hearing in May, but was adjourned until this week.
However, following a telephone conference on Thursday between a Court of Appeal judge and lawyers for Weatherston and the Crown, the appeal has been adjourned until 6 April.
Weatherston, a former university tutor who stabbed Ms Elliott 216 times at her Dunedin home in January 2008, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 18 years.
His claim that he was provoked into killing Ms Elliott led the Government to repeal the defence of provocation late last year.
