A 17-year-old man has been arrested after a police pursuit that ended in him crashing into an officer's car in Hastings.
Police began chasing the vehicle after the driver failed to stop for police on Queen Street at about 10am.
The chase was abandoned shortly afterwards because of safety reasons, police said.
The vehicle was later seen driving dangerously on SH2 near Paki Paki.
"A patrol vehicle, stationed at the end of roadworks on this road, was rammed by the vehicle as it passed and the driver was subsequently apprehended," a police spokesperson said.
The officer who was in the patrol car was receiving medical attention.
