The Government is to be sent the results of a poll suggesting that residents Manukau City have dismissed the new name for their new community boards.
The Botany, Howick and Pakuranga boards will be merged under the Auckland super-city.
The Local Government Commission has chosen the name Te Irirangi for their replacement.
The three boards polled 750 people by phone on Sunday, with the results showing 58% of respondents prefer the name Howick and just 5% Te Irirangi.
