A man was "savagely beaten" at an Auckland train station on the weekend, police say.
The 25-year-old Colombian man sitting waiting for a train at Ōnehunga station at 1.40pm on Saturday when he was approached by a man who demanded his wallet.
Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said the man was beaten, kicked to the ground, then punched and kicked.
The victim suffered serious head injuries, a fractured eye socket and cuts.
Police said the attack was appalling and they want the public's help to identify the attacker and the people he was with.
