An Auckland real estate agent has been fined $8000 for unlicensed trading.
Aaron Hughes was acquitted of criminal charges relating to two property deals earlier this year.
But the Real Estate Authority said his licence had been cancelled in 2016 after he pleaded guilty to two charges of misconduct.
It caught him trading without a licence and brought charges against him.
Authority chief executive Kevin Lampen-Smith said the authority took every opportunity to hold agents to account.
The public could vet 15,000 licensed real estate agents through its online public register, he said.
