"I feel great and have been badgering the doctors to let me get back to work," he said.

He thanked the staff at Auckland City Hospital and Middlemore Hospital.

Mr Goff is scheduled to speak at the Anzac Day dawn ceremony at the Cenotaph on Wednesday.

He is the second mayor of Auckland to have heart trouble. His predecessor Len Brown had several months off work after a heart attack at a public function 10 years ago, while in his previous role as mayor of Manukau.
