Police have released footage of a brutal assault on a 20-year-old man who was hit with a piece of wood as he lay unconscious on the ground last month in west Auckland.
The film shows a violent fight between two groups late at night on Tuesday 23 January on Oates Rd in Glen Eden.
Detective Sergeant Chris Goldsmith said it was a vicious and cowardly attack, and the victim would need facial reconstructive surgery.
The main offender is Polynesian with a large afro hairstyle, 1.82 metres tall with a large build, he said.
The second offender is Māori or Polynesian, around 1.75m and of muscular build.
