TVNZ headquarters in Auckland were evacuated after an incident this evening, delaying the regular nightly news by half an hour.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Victoria Street in central Auckland at about 5.30pm.
The road was cordoned off between Hobson and Nelson Streets.
About eight fire trucks were on the scene, as well as a hazmat unit.
A fire service worker on the scene said heavy smoke had clogged the building.
It was not clear what caused the fire.
A person who worked inside the building said they were evacuated after an alarm went off.
The 6pm news bulletin - which is broadcast live from the studio in Auckland - was delayed by half an hour due to the evacuation.
