A fire broke out at a three-storey house on the northern end of Wellington's The Terrace shortly before 4pm today.

Fire and Emergency shift manager Carlos Dempsey said seven fire trucks were called out just before 4pm.
He said the three-storey home was ablaze and there was a risk the fire could spread to other houses. The fire has since been contained.
Mr Dempsey said motorists should avoid the area.
